LL.M. Tuition & Fees For Fall-Spring 2014-15 Academic Year

The Charlotte School of Law Finance Office is responsible for billing and receiving all tuition payments, fees and other financial obligations to Charlotte School of Law. Contact the Student Account Coordinator in the Finance Office at 001-704-971-8386 with questions regarding tuition payments.

Tuition, fees and other charges, including interest and late charges are the responsibility of the student. Please note that unless specifically stated elsewhere, payment of the total amount of tuition and fees are due on the first day of regular classes for each term. Tuition is the same for in state residents, out of state residents, and international students. All tuition, fees and debts must be satisfied, in full, the first day of class. They can be satisfied in one of two ways; payment in full or Financial Aid. Students are advised to check their student account statements and/or check with the Accounting Manager in the Finance Office. Failure to satisfy your bill within the drop/add period will result in all classes being dropped.

Scholarships

Charlotte School of Law is pleased to offer full and partial tuition scholarships to exemplary, incoming LL.M. students.  To identify these outstanding students, Charlotte School of Law considers several factors, including the applicant’s history of academic achievement, capacity for leadership and cultural growth, commitment to service and the study of law, and demonstration of other required criterion appropriate to the scholarship level sought.  No additional application is required to be considered for any of Charlotte School of Law’s LL.M. scholarships. Simply apply to the LL.M. program and address your qualifications in your personal statement.  Our LL.M. application may be found at http://www.charlottelaw.edu/llm/apply. Accepted students will be notified of Scholarship awards by May 15, 2014.

LL.M. Ambassador Scholarship – Full Tuition Scholarship

For its full-tuition LL.M. Ambassador Scholarship, Charlotte School of Law places great importance on applicants who possess a demonstrated capacity and potential for academic excellence and cultural leadership and a commitment to the law and service.  Charlotte School of Law particularly values those applicants who will, as students and alumni, ultimately serve as strong ambassadors for its LL.M. program.  Characteristics of a Charlotte School of Law LL.M. Ambassador Scholarship recipient include:

  • Possesses a qualifying first foreign degree in law;

  • History of high academic achievement;

  • Demonstrated leadership capacity;

  • Demonstrated capacity for potential success in the CSL cultural model;

  • Superior personal awareness;

  • Ability to contribute to the practice, development and study of law;

  • Commitment to service;

  • Contribution to a globally diverse student population;

  • Ability to master legal studies in English; and

  • Willingness to serve as an LL.M. alumni leader and ambassador for CSL.

To be considered for the LL.M. Ambassador Scholarship, applicants must submit a completed application through LSAC.org no later than May 1, 2014. Scholarship award decisions will be sent to accepted students by May 15, 2014. 

Merit Scholarships – Partial Tuition Scholarships

Charlotte School of Law may offer merit-based, partial tuition scholarships to incoming LL.M. students. If selected, Merit Scholarships are awarded to entering students in their letter of acceptance in recognition of their strong academic performance, potential for cultural leadership, and history of leadership and service. no additional application is required to be considered for Merit Scholarships. 

Financial Aid

In general, need based financial aid is not available to graduate level students in the U.S. Most applicants to the LL.M. in American Legal Studies will be expected to provide full funding for their degree and living expenses from private sources. 

U.S. Citizens And Permanent Residents

The LL.M. in American Legal Studies is not currently eligible for federal financial aid. Students may be eligible for private (non-federal) loans based upon their financial ability to secure such loans through private lenders. 

Non-Residents

Persons who do not hold citizenship or permanent residency status in the U.S. are not currently eligible for federal loans or funding. In general, students without family in the U.S. also may not be eligible to take out private loans from U.S. banks. International students should be prepared to pay the entire cost of their tuition and living expenses from private sources in their home country and/or through loans from their home country banks. Students requiring F-1 immigration status through Charlotte School of Law will be required to prove that all required funding is immediately available to them prior to Charlotte School of Law issuing a Form I-20.
