International Leadership Scholarships

Leadership Scholarships are merit-based and are available for outstanding international students who demonstrate leadership abilities through community service experience, volunteering and extracurricular activities. Scholarships are awarded for four years of undergraduate study or two years of graduate study.

    > Undergraduate: valued at approximately $7,000 per year – Estimated Tuition with Scholarship: $7,044
    > Graduate: valued at approximately $8,500 per year – Estimated Tuition with Scholarship: $8,028

1.Download, read, and complete the International Leadership Scholarship application

2.Write a 400-500 word essay describing your extracurricular activities and how you plan to use your time at Murray State to increase intercultural understanding, both of yourself and those around you.

3.Get two letters of reference from professors, teachers, or community organizers

4.Submit the application and supporting documents by sending an email to msu.intl@murraystate.edu

Application deadline: Complete application packages, following the procedures outlined above, must be submitted no later than March 15 for the fall semester and September 15 for the spring semester.

Selection Process: Applications for the Murray State University International Leadership Scholarship will be reviewed by a committee composed of Murray State University faculty and administrators. The committee will select for awards the five applicants who most successfully demonstrate:
(a) strong academic backgrounds and potential as illustrated by previous academic records, acceptance to a degree program at Murray State University, and comments provided in the letters of reference
(b) strong leadership abilities as indicated in comments provided by references and in the personal essay;
(c) effective communication skills as evident in the essay;
(d) active and creative interest in promoting intercultural understanding as evident in the essay

ESL Scholarships

International ESL Scholarships are available to undergraduate or graduate international students who have taken at least one term of English courses in the English as a Second Language program at Murray State prior to their degree program study. 

    > Undergraduate: total of $4,000 ($500/semester for 8 semesters)
    > Graduate: total of $2,000 ($500/semester for 4 semesters)
